I write about whatever comes to my mind.Since I am my poetry, most of my writings are/will be in the poetic/lyrical form & hey, isn't diversity beautiful? Each and everyone of us has something the other doesn't have. Thus, we complement each other. Please, let's overcome our differences and enjoy humanity. A final note: Knowledge is meant to be shared. So, don't be stingy:)

salaam hipster....although I really feel like the whole darfur thing was blown out of proportion and I heard many accounts from ppl that visited darfur that said calling the problem a genocide is naive and it is not like the media portrays it (I will write a blog about that soon insha Allah)...lakin I think the reason why most Arabs never really show interest in Sudan's affairs or show it really late is because they don't think of us as Arabs (I will also insha Allah write a blog about that)...unfortunatley instead of considering Islam as being the most important identity that unites all muslims...there is actually a lot of racism that divides us.
Arab Americans [mainly in Dearborn, MI] that celebrated Saddam's death. Buncha cowards, all I can say.
Daana,I have also heard that the Darfur crisis has been blown out of proportion. The term " genocide" has been misused, perhaps, to attract more international attention. For this reason, Drima, Mid East Youth & Good Neighbours have started www.darfur-awareness.org to rectify all misconceptions.

I agree.
Thankx for your feedback:)
FS, we all wanted Saddam to be punished but maybe not in this way!
Are some muslims more equal than others, like darfurians? I want to think differently, but the mounting evidences just can't allow me.
I hope they have changed, I hope...
BK, the case, as Daana stated, is that the Arabs don't look at us as Arabs.
Funny, that's how the Northerners treat the Southerners.Let them get a taste of their own medicine!!!
Exactly! When in Sudan the Northerners are Arabs, but when they go to the Arab world people laugh at them when they claim to be Arabs.
I have heard the story that most Arab countries initially refused Sudan to join the Arab League because they considered not Arabs! It was only Egyptian Gamal Abdel Nasir (?) who said: "if they want to be Arabs, why should we refuse them?" (how true is the story? Anyone?)
We need to forge our own identity. It is about time!
I heard that story too & rumour has it that it was the Lebanese who strongly opposed our joining!!!
As far as I'm concerned & even if Arabs don't regard me as a part of them, I'm proud of the diversity & Afro-Arabism that I'm a part of-be it, yes, Sudanese,Turkish,Ethopian or Egyptian, with immense love for the UAE!
The Lebanese? The irony does not escape me.
Can't confirm or deny the story, I'm afraid.
